Virtual SL/TP and Virtual Pending Orders

Understand which levels are monitored by Trade Dashboard locally, how virtual triggers submit market requests, and what changes when the terminal is offline.

Configure virtual execution

  1. Choose Virtual SL, Virtual TP or Virtual Order in the applicable trade controls. Each option is independent; verify the choices on the specific trade.
  2. Set Entry, SL and TP, then check the virtual trigger-price mode: the configured Bid, Ask or Middle policy determines when the local level is considered reached.
  3. Review the chart labels and broker trade list. A virtual pending order is tracked locally, while a virtual protective level is not an ordinary broker SL/TP.
  4. Keep MetaTrader, the dashboard and its broker connection running. Test the intended trigger behavior on a demo account before relying on the configuration.

Virtual SL/TP on an open position

When the configured virtual SL or TP is reached, the dashboard requests closing the position. The level is an instruction to the local watcher, not a guaranteed fill price. Spread, gaps, connection delay and broker execution can change the realized exit.

BE and trailing can adjust managed virtual protection too. Confirm the resulting chart level and virtual state after any modification rather than assuming it was sent as a broker stop.

Virtual pending orders

A virtual pending order is not submitted as a normal waiting broker order. The dashboard watches its trigger and sends a market request when the configured condition is reached, subject to margin, restrictions and broker acceptance.

Expiration and Cancel Price can end local waiting while the dashboard is active. OCO/OCOT coordinates related orders; review the relationship and do not assume a deleted order removes unrelated trades.

Example: a locally watched Buy Limit

With Ask at 1.10100, configure a virtual Buy Limit at 1.10000 using the normal Ask/Bid policy. When Ask reaches the buy trigger, the dashboard attempts a market Buy. The actual opening price can differ from 1.10000.

A locally watched virtual SL can later request a close at its trigger. Both entry and exit depend on the dashboard processing prices and the broker accepting the requests.

Offline behavior and common checks

  • Terminal closed or dashboard removed? Local virtual checks cannot submit new entry or exit requests. Ordinary broker orders and accepted broker SL/TP have different ownership.
  • Level looks touched but nothing happened? Compare the configured Bid/Ask/Middle mode, spread, local connectivity and trade restrictions.
  • Need to switch to broker protection? Review the trade dialog and accepted broker levels after applying the change. Do not rely solely on a line drawn on the chart.
