Economic Calendar and news automation in Trade Dashboard
Filter upcoming releases, align event times with your trading session, and configure selected actions before or after an economic announcement.
Prepare the calendar
- Open News & Economic Calendar. Allow https://www.forexfactory.com in MetaTrader’s Expert Advisors WebRequest settings so the dashboard can fetch its calendar data.
- Choose the displayed time zone, currencies, impact levels and day. Check the last-update time and an upcoming event’s countdown.
- Open the selected event’s settings. Set minutes before and after the release, then enable the required actions separately for each side.
- Review chart markers and notification destinations. Keep the dashboard running and connected while the configured event actions are due.
Display filters and event actions
Currency, impact and day filters help you read the list. Review the event’s own action settings as well; a display filter alone is not a complete trading policy.
Before/after options include sound, screen alert, push notification and screenshot. Close All also requests closing managed positions and deleting managed pending orders. Enable it only after reviewing the affected scope. Viewing an event does not enable these actions automatically.
Example: prepare five minutes before a release
For a selected high-impact USD release, set the before interval to 5 minutes and enable Screen Alert and Screenshot. Leave Close All off if you only want a reminder. At 14:25 for a 14:30 event, the dashboard attempts the selected before actions.
An after-event action has its own interval and switches. It does not automatically reopen trades closed before the release.
Data freshness and time zones
The dashboard fetches external calendar data and keeps a dated cache. A visible cached list is not proof that the latest release data was fetched. Check the update timestamp, WebRequest permission and connection if events look stale or empty.
Compare the displayed event time with broker time and the countdown. Recheck the zone after seasonal clock changes. Actual, forecast and previous figures may be absent or delayed depending on the source.
Common checks
- No events? Clear currency/impact/day filters, check the date, then inspect WebRequest access and the update time.
- No alert? Verify the event’s before/after switches and MetaTrader’s push settings where applicable.
- Does this block all trading during news? No. Event actions and Overtrading restrictions are separate features; configure the intended behavior explicitly.
