Two Stage Orders in Trade Dashboard
A two-stage order uses a Trigger price to activate a second pending order at Entry. Trade Dashboard provides four modes and a dedicated 2S panel, plus chart handles for visual placement.
Place your first two-stage order
- Open 2S and choose one of the four order types. Set your risk or fixed lot, SL and TP in the Trade tab.
- Set Entry for the second-stage pending order and Trigger for its activation. In visual placement, use the 2S control and drag the two handles separately.
- Enable Entry Trail if needed, and review Cancel Price, Expiration and whether execution is local or broker-side. Check the planned volume and risk before submitting.
- Submit the selected order and monitor its waiting state. When Trigger is reached, follow the second-stage pending order or the resulting position with the normal trade controls.
Example: breakout followed by a pullback
Illustrative Buy Stop Limit: current Ask 1.10000, Trigger 1.10200, Entry 1.10100, SL 1.09900 and TP 1.10500. Ask must first rise to 1.10200. The second stage then waits as a Buy Limit at 1.10100 for a pullback. Reaching Trigger alone does not mean the position has opened.
If price never returns to Entry, the second-stage order can remain unfilled. The example prices are unrelated to the screenshot and are not a trade recommendation; actual fills and accepted distances depend on market conditions and broker rules.
Trigger and Entry
Set the final pending-order price in Entry and the first activation price in the 2S Trigger field. Buy triggers use Ask; Sell triggers use Bid. Risk, volume, SL and TP are calculated from the planned Entry. The visual placement tool also shows a draggable Trigger handle beside the Entry control.
The four order types
Read left to right: 1 activates the second-stage pending order; 2 shows its entry condition. The dashed path is a possible later move, not a guaranteed fill. Prices are schematic; Entry can be on either side of the initial market price, subject to the order's rules.

Entry trailing and order management
Optional Trail starts only after Trigger activation and moves the second-stage Entry in one direction while it remains pending. Trigger stays fixed. Successful Entry moves shift planned SL and TP by the same amount. This is separate from trailing the Stop Loss of an open position.
You can adjust Trigger and Entry from their chart controls. Cancel Price and Expiration apply while the first stage waits. The 2S panel can cancel waiting Buy, Sell or all two-stage orders on the current chart symbol. After activation, use the ordinary pending-order or position controls.

Step 1 / 6 — Waiting for Trigger
Ask is below Trigger. Entry, SL and TP are planned levels; Entry trailing has not started.
Illustrative price path with Trail enabled and a 50-unit distance. After activation, Buy Limit and Sell Stop entries trail upward; Buy Stop and Sell Limit entries trail downward. Actual updates depend on distance, step and successful order modification. Entry trailing ends when the order fills; position SL trailing has its own settings.
MT4 and MT5 execution
On MT4, all first stages are managed locally. On MT5 with Virtual Pending Order off, Buy Stop Limit and Sell Stop Limit are sent as native broker Stop Limit orders; broker support is required. Buy Limit Stop and Sell Limit Stop always use local staging. Enabling Virtual Pending Order also makes the two Stop Limit types locally staged on MT5.
Local activation and Entry trailing require MetaTrader, the dashboard and a broker connection to remain running. If price has already crossed Entry during local activation, the dashboard may open a market trade immediately at a different fill price. Check the resulting SL and TP. Spread, margin, broker rules and trading restrictions still apply.
Common questions
- Does Entry Trail move Trigger? No. Trigger stays fixed; trailing starts after activation and moves the pending Entry in one direction, with planned SL and TP following successful moves.
- Can I close MetaTrader? Local activation and Entry trailing need the terminal, dashboard and connection to remain running. Native MT5 Stop Limit execution depends on broker support; local management still needs the dashboard.
- What if price has already passed Entry? During local activation, the dashboard may open a market trade immediately. Review the actual fill, SL and TP.
